Hi there!

I'm currently working on different types of buildings for my CyGen Project:
Website: [link]
Demo I: [link]
Demo II: [link]
This is simply a demo to demonstrate a displacement mapping technique via mental ray, using the viewport depended subdivision controls. This will allow me to render very highresolution geometry close up to the camera, whereas further buildings will receive less amounts of details, due to the nature of it's tesselation algorithm.
I'm already very looking forward applying this technique on my next upcoming building types.

For the image itself. I've modelled the sculpture in Autodesk Mudbox (simply awesome program!!) within 2-3 hours. Generated a displacement map and rendered it with Mental Ray in Autodesk Maya 2008.

- 1 polygonface in the scene
- approx. 400000 polys during subdivision
- 4.5 hours rendertime on my old X2 4400+, with 2 GB RAM
- Maya 2008, Mudbox, Photoshop CS2

Thanks for watching,

Dan

I do not understand the half what you're saying but it looks trully realistic Daniel.

0_o I understand next to nothing about 3d arts. Except that it's really hard to get them photorealistic.

The procedure sounds wonderful, Dan. I struggle with the technical terms, understanding little of them. However, when I see what you do with what you are talking about, it is beautifully believable, and very worthwhile.
