Those are first testrenders using CyGen for Maya.
It's a python program I've been working on since the last two weeks and I'll be working on it for a while ...

What you see is a demo city, generated from a couple of simple splines on a polygonal plane using edge replacement algorithms. A brief description is available on my website: [link]

The program is a work in progress.
For now you actually only see one building type variated several times with the program.
I'm currently working on a procedural texturing process that will apply materials on the fly ...
After that I'll start adding more building types and a algorithm that blends those types together to create subspecies allowing even more variation.
More stuff to come ...

Some facts:
- work time: 5 minutes (drawing splines, using an existing lighting scene)
- generation time: 20 minutes (drinking coffee, eating cake, ... )
- rendertime: 15 minutes (some more coffee, some more cake, ...)
- generated unique buildings: 288
- generated polygons: 2.33 Millions
- instances in Maya: 6
- total amount of Polygons: 14 Millions
- total amount of Fun: a lot
- RAM: 12 GB
- CPU: Dual Dual Core 2.4 Ghz (Maya only uses one core :S )

I've created a Research & Development section for CyGen on my website: [link]
I'll keep on adding updates there ...

Best Regards,

Dan

*needs Maya* :(, Great program though. You should program a matte painting tool for GIMP :D

Damn it DOES look very attractive for gamedesigners and the film industry... How are you planning to distribute it?

Coruscant much? ;) Very impressinve, though it's obviously still far too uniform to be believable. But it's a terrific start.

Prove God and win... eh, nothing, actually. Sorry.

Like my avatar? I'll make you one.
Also, mod bashing.

work time 5 minutes, you're kidding me :|

How can the software generate variations from the same building by itself ? or did I misunderstand ...

That is awesome!

I really need to get better with Maya... Still one of the best in my class, but not nearly as good as I would like to be...

I really could have used this in a project I did recently, could have saved me a few days of duplicating!
